About Clark Gray

Early Years

I was born in Dallas, Texas in 1967 and grew up in the suburbs of Fort Worth in a somewhat conservative and rigid, yet chaotic household. My parents taught me, among other things, independence and an appreciation of history.

Education

I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in magazine journalism. I minored in German and still use it a lot when traveling. I love foreign languages and enjoy learning any and all languages I am exposed to.

Family

I've been married to my wife Lora since 1997. We're the parents of three very cool kids; a daughter and twin boys. We spend a tremendous amount of time with our kids and enjoy watching them develop into creative individuals.

Interests and Activities

I've always been a shameless story teller and have been creating tales in one way or another my entire life. Writing is one of my greatest passions. I've written a few articles for magazines and co-produced a play that Lora wrote called The Fourth Man. I recently completed a biography about my great uncle, Bee Ho Gray, which will be in bookstores in August 2010. I'm currenlty working on my second book, a biography of Tex McLeod.

I love to travel, especially to places with an "old world" feel. I never set foot outside of the United States until I was eighteen years old but I've been traveling ever since. Seeing other parts of the world has played a significant role in defining who I am. I've visited twenty-three countries (as far as I can count) and have lived abroad twice. My family spends summers in the Slovak Republic where we own a small house.

Lora and I are constantly making or building things. Most of them are just for fun (costumes, pottery, furniture, tree houses, etc.).

I enjoy recreational activities including hiking, camping, mountain biking and kayaking on Lake Travis and the Pedernales River near my home in the Texas Hill Country. Lora and I also have a lot of fun taking road trips, hitting antique stores and junk sales. We like to carry along our cameras to seek out photo opportunities.

I'm a big fan of live music, especially in small, intimate venues. Lora and I like to seek out unknown bands who are playing for a dozen people in a tiny bar in the middle of the week. As the years have passed, I've seen some of these unknown bands become well-known international acts.

What's Next?

Lora and I are currently developing a children's television series. We have joined forces with an experienced television producer and a director of photography. We expect to start production in Summer 2010.
